Itinerary / Routes for Backpacking South America 2009 - Trip 3
"Itinerary? No idea but I know where I want to start & finish!"
Trip 3 Itinerary (April - June 2009)
- This was the trip I became a real traveler. I learnt how to travel hard and see as much as possible. I covered great distances overland fast.
This is an epic backpacking itinerary for South America starting and ending in Lima - Peru, all overland apart from 1 flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque
in the Bolivian Amazon! I did this route in 2 months but you could take your time and do it slower as a 3 month itinerary. From Lima heading south to some
great places in Peru, then heading inland eastward towards Lake Titicaca and Bolivia. Following a few places in Bolivia eastward for a train from Santa Cruz
to Brazil for the Pantanal. From there south down to Iguazu Falls. From there heading back westward through Paraguay to Salta - Argentina. From Salta you
can get to northern Chile. From Chile is where I headed up the coast of Peru all the way up to Ecuador. After Ecuador I crossed a different border crossing
to get back into Peru and headed back down to Lima to get home. This itinerary is hardcore for the time I did it in but the route can be sliced, diced,
reversed or cut into various pieces.
